Borneo, a region in Malaysia, know for its rich nature and wildlife amongst others some of the last Organutans on this planet.
To get to see them you can either go to a Rehabilitation Centre in Sepilok (30 MYR – 6,50 € + 10 MYR – 2,20 € to take pictures) or go on a jungle adventure and try to spot one in nature.
For the second choice you should really be into wildlife and not be too bothered by millions of mosquitoes and other insects. I went on a 3 days/2 nights tour from Kota Kinabualu (KK) for around (445 MYR – 95 €). Included was my transport from KK, 5 boat cruises, all meals and a jungle walk.
We saw lots of Longtail monkeys and Proboscis monkeys as well as Hornbill birds. And at last…..we saw 1 Organutan…it was even a bit of a miracle as it is not easy to spot them during the rainy season, especially when it rains and early in the morning….but it happened, we found one male Orangutan and I was thrilled (nearly missed that cruise to stay in bed longer than 5:30am). Later that day we also went to the Rehabilitation Centre in Sepilok, where we saw even more Organutans, all the pictures you can find in this post.
